MARIA MUCHAL BERTA
Maria Muchal Berta is a highly accomplished Certified Real Estate Residential Appraiser and Associate Broker, recognized for her dedication to excellence and community service. Maria graduated from Parsons The New School for Design with a Bachelor's degree in Business, focusing on Design and Management.
After graduating, Maria returned to Pennsylvania and explored various career paths before finding her true calling in real estate. Her commitment to professional growth led her to obtain a real estate license, a residential appraiser's license, and a broker's license within a decade. In 2020, Maria founded Chiave Appraisal Group, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and expertise in the field. Her leadership skills were further recognized when she served as President of the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors in 2022.
Maria's achievements in the real estate industry are numerous. She was honored as the Greater Scranton Board of Realtor's "Realtor of the Year" in 2022 and was listed among the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal's Top 20 Under 40 in 2020. During her tenure as President-Elect of The Greater Scranton Board of Realtors (GSBR), she played a pivotal role in hiring a new CEO for the association, marking a significant transition after the retirement of the previous CEO who served for 25 years.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maria is deeply committed to her community. She is an active member of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, co-chair of the GSBR's community service committee, and a dedicated member of Jessup Hose Company #2 and the Women's Resource Center. Maria also volunteers with various organizations, including St. Joseph's Center, the Child Hunger Outreach Partners (CHOP), and the Everhart Museum.
Maria's personal life is enriched by her husband, Jon, and their beloved bunny, Luggs.
ALYSE KERR
ALYSE KERR
Alyse Kerr is the CEO of Integrative Counseling Services, P.C., and a leading figure in the field of mental health care for individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Alyse’s clinical career took root in community mental health, where she dedicated herself to improving the lives of those with developmental disabilities. In 2012, she founded her practice to broaden the availability of mental health services within local communities.
In 2023, Alyse established Integrative Mind and Body Services (IMBS) with a mission to deliver advanced physical and mental health services to areas that traditionally lacked access to such comprehensive care. Her dedication to expanding mental health resources during times of crisis has been instrumental in addressing the needs of critically underserved communities.
Alyse is the first person outside of the pilot program to receive clinical certification from the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) for her work with individuals with intellectual disabilities. She has also been a significant contributor to the certification process for NADD clinicians. Her expertise was recognized in a pilot study for the American Psychiatric Association, which helped inform the diagnostic criteria for the DSM-5.
Alyse holds several certifications, including being a Nationally Certified Counselor and having NADD clinical certification. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University and her Master of Science in School Counseling from the University of Scranton. Her scholarly contributions include two journal articles: "Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders in the Criminal Justice System: A Review" and "Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and Confabulation: A Review for Criminal Justice Professionals."
Outside of her professional life, Alyse enjoys traveling, trying new foods, hiking, and engaging in power sports. She is a devoted pet owner of two cats, Wanda and Gunther.
CHRISTINE MCCLURE
CHRISTINE McCLURE
Christine McClure, a dedicated High School Biology Teacher from Northeast Pennsylvania, brings a wealth of experience o the board of Integrative Mind and Body Services. Christine’s journey in education began with her undergraduate studies in Biology/Secondary Education at East Stroudsburg University. Her love for the sciences, combined with a passion for teaching, led her back to her alma mater, where she has been inspiring students for the past 20 years.
Christine is a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent and Youth Sciences, a testament to her commitment to excellence in education. She teaches Advanced Placement and Honors Biology, as well as Human Anatomy and Physiology, making science relatable and engaging for her students. Her ability to connect with students and make complex scientific concepts understandable has been a hallmark of her teaching career.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, Christine was named Teacher of the Year in 2021. Beyond the classroom, she serves as the president of the Western Wayne Education Foundation, an organization that leverages EITC donations from local businesses to enhance educational opportunities for students. Additionally, Christine founded a local chapter of the United States Pony Club, providing children with the opportunity to develop horse management skills
Christine holds a Master’s degree in 21st Century Teaching and Learning from Wilkes University. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
Her dedication to community service is evident through her volunteer work with the Western Wayne Education Foundation, the Wayne County 4-H program, and the Endless Mountains Pony Club. Christine’s hobbies reflect her love for the outdoors and animals, particularly her involvement in equestrian activities.
Christine and her husband, Tim, reside on their family farm in South Canaan, PA, with their four children: Madelyn, Timothy, Kathryn, and Eleanor.
MATTHEW MCDONALD
MATTHEW McDONALD
Matthew McDonald, a Captain with the City of Scranton Fire Department, brings over two decades of experience and leadership to the board of Integrative Mind and Body Services. Serving as a firefighter since 2002, Matthew has spent the majority of his career at Rescue 1, the busiest firehouse in Scranton, demonstrating his commitment to high-stakes emergency response.
In 2020, Matthew was selected to join Pennsylvania Task Force One (PATF1), a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team, allowing him to be deployed nationally for disaster response. His notable participation in the rescue and recovery efforts at the Champlain Towers building collapse in Surfside, Florida, highlights his dedication and expertise in handling critical and traumatic events. In recognition of his exceptional service, he received the Burn Prevention Network's Spirit of Courage Award in 2023.
Promoted to Captain in 2022, Matthew excels in maintaining composure under pressure, leading teams, and providing crucial assistance during emergencies. He has been actively involved in various committees as the Vice President of IAFF Local 60, including the Safety Committee and the Healthcare Committee, underscoring his commitment to improving safety and health standards for his colleagues.
Matthew's extensive training includes certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician and in Rope Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structure Collapse Specialist, Technical Search Specialist, and Swift Water Rescue Specialist. He completed his education at the Harrisburg Area Community College Fire Academy and is an active member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).
An avid outdoorsman, Matthew enjoys hiking, running, exercising, and gardening. His love for travel and the outdoors complements his active lifestyle. He has also dedicated his time to volunteering, having assisted the American Red Cross during the Midwest flooding of 1993 and the Northridge Earthquake in 1994. Through IAFF Local 60, he has supported numerous local charities, including Coats For Kids, the Family to Family food drive, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Matthew lives in Scranton with his wife, Emily, their dog, Blue, and their cat, Misty.
ALEX MOLFETAS
ALEX MOLFETAS
Alex Molfetas, the Chief Operating Officer of Center City Print in Scranton, brings a rich blend of business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep commitment to community service to the board of Integrative Mind and Body Services. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised by hardworking Greek immigrants, Alex learned the values of hard work and strong morals from an early age. His professional journey began at 16 as a stock boy in a retail appliance store, instilling a solid work ethic that has defined his career.
Alex pursued his education at Lackawanna College, where he excelled academically and graduated with top honors, earning an Associate's degree in Media Studies & Technologies. His involvement as a stage manager for three theater productions during college demonstrated his versatility and leadership skills. After graduation, Alex worked at Fidelity Bank before moving to New York to engage in International Finance with Citigroup. When his role was relocated to Buffalo, he chose to return to Scranton, where he ventured into the print industry.
In 2012, Alex co-founded Center City Print with his partner, Kurt, launching a successful business that has expanded to five locations and employs a team of nearly 20 dedicated staff members. His expertise in project management, budget management, contract negotiation, and business consulting has been instrumental in the company's growth. Beyond printing, Alex has been involved in various real estate development projects, healthcare, health and wellness, and the entertainment industry, showcasing his diverse business interests.
Alex's educational achievements include the Lackawanna College Humanities Award and membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. His contributions extend beyond his professional endeavors to significant volunteer and philanthropic work. He serves on the boards of The Everhart Museum, The Scranton Club, and The Anthony J. Rinaldi Foundation for Children with Cancer. Additionally, Alex is the Church Council President of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Scranton, reflecting his dedication to his faith and community.
In his personal life, Alex enjoys spending time with his family, particularly his two young daughters. He has a passion for collecting sealed Lego sets and takes pleasure in yard work.
MRS. JAMIE LEE WHITE
MRS. JAMIE LEE WHITE
Mrs. Jamie Lee White brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to supporting at-risk students to her role as a board member of Integrative Mind and Body Services. With a career spanning over 18 years as a professional school counselor, Jamie has dedicated herself to working with marginalized and at-risk teens, providing essential support during times of crisis.
Before becoming a school counselor, Jamie worked as a child abuse investigator and a mental health case manager for individuals experiencing homelessness in Florida. These roles instilled in her a profound understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Her passion for helping others led her to further her education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida, followed by a Master of Science in School Counseling from the University of Scranton. She also obtained a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in 2012 and became a licensed professional counselor in 2015.
In her current role, Jamie has served as the K-12 Counseling Department Head for several years, demonstrating her leadership and dedication to enhancing the support systems within educational settings. Her expertise and commitment were recognized when she was named the School Counselors of NEPA (SCNEPA) School Counselor of the Year in 2023.
Jamie has been instrumental in several initiatives through the Intermediate Unit (IU) and her school district. She has been actively involved in the Mental Health Consortium and the Flight Team, and she has played a crucial role in training faculty and staff in suicide prevention and serving on the Threat Assessment Team. Her efforts have been acknowledged with numerous awards, including the 2017 PA Association of School Retirees Grant and the 2018 PA Association of Rural and Small Schools Grant.
Jamie has also contributed to the academic community, sharing her knowledge and experience with future counselors as an adjunct professor. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the School Counselors of NEPA, the Endless Mountains Counselor's Association, and the American School Counselor Association.
Outside of her professional life, Jamie is an avid runner and reader. She has completed several races, including 5Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, half marathons, and four marathons. Her commitment to helping others extends to her volunteer work, where she has raised funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Cancer Society.
Jamie resides with her family and continues to be a driving force in advocating for the mental health and well-being of students.
